DELHI:A devloped city of "ENCROACHERS"

With the message 'SEE YOU IN DELHI'  we departed from MELBOURNE commonwealth games in 2006.And with that message there started a rapid redtape  phase of development be it games village, accommodation for visitors and players, metro projects, that all shot into a mode of dynamic frenzy.

Jhuggi-Jhopri clusters- a
particular type of housing present in Delhi. These colonies are perceived to be illegal by the
Government. With living conditions akin to slums, the inhabitants of such clusters are part of
the economically backward sections of society, often looked over and ignored by the
Government.

They have been branded ‘urban criminals’ and ‘ENCROACHERS.’ But they have also been promised

improvement in living conditions by politicians. They have been given alternate colonies to

resettle in. But they have also been displaced and left on barren land to fend for themselves-
The research paper follows this changing policy of the Government and shifting attitude of the
Judiciary towards these squatters in the city. The current structure of the policy for dealing with
these JJ clusters is discussed as well.

.

The Government promises a cleaner, greener and infrastructurally sound city for the upcoming

Commonwealth Games in 2010- clearing out these JJ clusters from the heart of the city to
fringes for building upcoming stadia and beautification. Although the Government is well within
its right to do so, there is a moral question bound inextricably to this issue- the paper mentions
of both the Government’s view of legality of the relocation and the peoples protest against it.

They have been branded ‘urban criminals’ and ‘encroachers.’ But they have also been promised
improvement in living conditions by politicians. They have been given alternate colonies to

R U YOUNG? A CALL TO YOUTH

R U YOUNG ENOUGH? is the place for young adults to discuss issues that matter that concern. We represent the face of INDIA from anything under the sun.

In our country everything is as stark as on this page BLACK /WHITE.There are some curvy heaven of money and some are steep and wide regions of hunger and malnutrition. When we became free SUDDENLY on a fortunate day in 1947 our fathers and grandfathers thought ENDS well so ALL IZZ WELL.But despite to that what had happened after this 62 years  we as a developing democracy where everybody has a right to speech but right to work is still extinct.Everyday 9000 kids go straight to heaven because of malnutrition,7% of total population can afford the precious facilities of higher education.WE GOT FREEDOM?
IS IT TRUE? What this economic order of mixed capitalism has given to us?Heavens of prosperity for handful and garlands of poverty ridden society to more than 77% citizen of this country.

So where was our forefathers planners had mistaken. This is question to be concerned for the youth why there is so much disparity among the society. Some build castles of crores and a big portion of society is mearly living or say living to die on the verge of this economic system.
So it's a matter of responsibility to do something for the ever worsening situations.I will comeback with my experiences in DELHI ,where we proudly boast about towering buildings to hilarious growth and budding games city, where a big portion of workers, labourers displaced for COMMANWEALTH GAMES VENUES,where strikes for majdoors organized but won't get space in leading national dailies, because they are funded from big corporate houses, buisness tycoons.
YOUTH WILL NEVER RETURN ONCE FORGOTTEN SO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND ACT?
R U YOUNG ENOUGH?
